The FDA has just approved the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine for public use, which is great news! Having additional supplies available will help ensure that vaccinations are administered to as many people as possible. In a prior post, I listed the CPT codes, diagnosis codes and fees for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. This new vaccine option only requires one dose so the billing is a little different. Here are the codes:
Janssen Pharmaceutica (a division of Johnson & Johnson)- the administration code is 0031A and the vaccine code is 91303. You should use diagnosis code Z23. The CMS fee schedule for this vaccine is the same as the others: administration is $28.39 and $0.10 for the vaccine. These codes are effective as of 2/27/21.
Please note: you cannot be reimbursed for the vaccine if it was provided to you at no cost.
